It is common to believe that to turn we must perform an extension. Our objective should be to generate pressure, not just to extend the legs. If the objective is to generate pressure, then we will utilize the extension movement. In other words, we should think about the effect we want to achieve first (pressure) and then determine which movement we will use to reach it (extension).
Pressure generation tends to produce active extension in certain cases (depression/unweighting phase) or situations where pressure is maintained through an isometric extension.
Intentional Pressure vs. Empty Movement
